A slow or spotty connection can really ruin your blogging experience and make it difficult for you to upload pictures or videos, which are essential for any blog. Make sure that you have a broadband connection with at least ten megabytes per second download speed if possible.

2. The Platform

Next, make sure you have a great platform to blog on. WordPress is the most popular blogging platform and it is free to use. You can also buy your own domain name and web hosting, but that is not necessary if you are just starting out.

Make sure you know what you are talking about. This may seem obvious but make sure that you know your topic and aren’t just blindly blogging about it. If you can make money writing then there is no reason why you cannot make a career out of it as well. You also need to make sure that your blog looks good! There are plenty of free templates to choose from on WordPress and most look great already. You can also pay to have a custom design created for you, but that is not necessary.

Make sure you are writing great content. This means quality over quantity and make sure that your posts are at least 500 words long. If you cannot think of something to write about then do some research on your topic or read other blogs in your niche.

3. Keyword Research and Relevant Content

Also, make sure you are using the right keywords and tags. This will help people find your blog when they are doing a search online. Make sure that the keywords you choose are relevant to your topic and make sure to use them throughout your post. You also need to start promoting your blog! Use social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, and Instagram to make sure that your blog is getting out there. You can also make some money blogging by partnering with companies on these sites which will give you a percentage of the sales they make if someone clicks through from one of your posts.

4. Get Paid!!

Finally, make sure you are paid for what you write! There are many affiliate marketing programs where bloggers get paid when people click on their ads or buy products after clicking on an ad link in their post. This only works if the content is relevant though so do not put any irrelevant links in your posts just because it will make more money–it won’t help anyone else either then.
